Abstract
This article examines the effectiveness of the Communicative Approach in teaching German as a foreign language. The study focuses on how communicative language teaching enhances learners’ communicative competence, fluency, and classroom interaction. A qualitative-descriptive method was applied, based on classroom observations, analysis of communicative tasks, and evaluation of learner performance. The findings indicate that the Communicative Approach significantly improves students’ ability to use German in real-life situations through interactive activities such as role-plays, group discussions, and problem-solving tasks. However, challenges related to grammatical accuracy, especially in complex sentence structures, were also observed. The study concludes that the Communicative Approach is most effective when combined with selective form-focused instruction, ensuring a balance between fluency and accuracy in language learning.
