Abstract

A comprehensive morphological and morphometric study of the bronchial tree and lung parenchyma in white outbred rats under physiological conditions was conducted. It was established that the structure of the bronchopulmonary system is characterized by morphofunctional maturity, preserved architectonics of the epithelial layer, alveolar apparatus, and vascular component. The identified age-related changes are adaptive in nature and are not accompanied by destructive processes. Certain morphometric parameters may be considered as reference criteria of normality, providing a basis for the objective assessment of pathological alterations under experimental conditions.
