Abstract

The thesis analyzes the pedagogical views of leading representatives of the Jadid movement in Samarkand at the turn of the 19th–20th centuries – Mahmudxo‘ja Behbudiy, Hoji Muin Shukrullo o‘g‘li, Sadriddin Ayniy and others. It highlights their ideas on new-method (usuli jadid) schools, phonetic teaching methods, education in the native language, women's enlightenment, introduction of secular subjects, improvement of teacher qualifications, and awakening of national consciousness. The relevance of this heritage in independent Uzbekistan's education system is demonstrated – in developing modern education based on national values, integrating innovative methods, and advancing gender equality. Jadid pedagogy is evaluated as the historical and theoretical foundation of contemporary education strategies.
