Abstract

This paper analyzes scientific evidence on the potential role of vitamin D deficiency in impaired osseointegration of dental implants. The aim is to examine the relationship between vitamin D status, peri-implant bone formation, and clinical implant outcomes. The biological rationale for the effects of vitamin D on bone metabolism, the assessment of serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D concentrations, and considerations in interpreting this marker are discussed. Particular attention is paid to distinguishing experimental findings, clinical associations, and evidence supporting the effectiveness of correcting vitamin D deficiency. Research limitations related to differences in laboratory criteria, follow-up periods, and coexisting risk factors are considered. The need for further controlled clinical studies is emphasized to clarify the prognostic significance of vitamin D deficiency and evaluate whether its correction improves dental implant outcomes.
