THE USE OF POETIC DEVICES IN SULTONIY’S POETRY

Abstract

This thesis examines the use of poetic devices in the works of Sultani, a poet associated with the literary environment of Khorezm in the nineteenth century. Based on selected poems preserved in the manuscript collection “Bayozi Sultoniy”, it discusses the artistic functions of simile (tashbeh), semantic harmony (tanosub), allusion (talmeh), antithesis (tazod), hyperbole (mubolagha), and repetition (takrir). The analysis highlights how these devices portray the beloved, express the lover’s emotional experiences, and strengthen the theme of love in Sultani’s poetry.
