Abstract
This article examines the motifs of spiritual development, self-knowledge, and the search for truth in the works of Alisher Navoi and Johann Wolfgang von Goethe from a comparative literary perspective. Navoi’s Lison ut-Tayr and Goethe’s West-Eastern Divan serve as the primary texts. Using comparative-typological, contextual, and symbolic analysis, it compares the birds’ quest for the Simurgh with Eastern poetic imagery, love, and self-knowledge in Goethe’s collection, distinguishing typological affinities from direct influence.
