Abstract
This thesis analyzes the specific features of translating psychological terms used in English-language self-help literature into Uzbek, using James Clear’s “Atomic Habits” as an example. The study examines the representation of such frequently used terminological units as habit, cue, craving, response, reward, identity, self-image, mindset, and habit loop in Uzbek from a comparative and contrastive and translation studies perspective. The analysis considers not only the lexical correspondence of terms but also their semantic, conceptual, and functional equivalence as the main criteria. The results show that some terms have established equivalents in Uzbek, while other units require contextual adaptation or descriptive translation. In particular, the terminological variability observed within the cue–craving–response–reward model demonstrates the need to ensure conceptual consistency in translation.
