Abstract
This article analyzes the role and functions of dialectal vocabulary in the prose works of Abdulhamid Choʻlpon, particularly in the novel “Night and Day” (“Kecha va Kunduz”). It examines the lexical, ethnographic, semantic, and phonetic-grammatical types of dialectisms, as well as their role in individualizing characters' speech, creating national-local color, enhancing artistic-emotional impact, and reflecting the spirit of the era. Concrete examples drawn from the text of the novel such as ena, kart, zab, and others demonstrate the balance and skill with which Choʻlpon employs dialectal lexicon.
