Abstract
The combat readiness of modern infantry requires exceptional biomechanical endurance and explosive kinetic power. This study empirically investigates targeted athletics training (sprinting, middle-distance running, explosive jumping) as the foundational matrix for military physical preparedness. Utilizing an 18-month longitudinal design, we evaluated the physiological and tactical metrics of 850 active-duty personnel via VO2 max assessments, blood lactate monitoring, and heavy-load obstacle course simulations. Quantitative analysis reveals that personnel subjected to a 60% athletics-dominant protocol exhibited a 24.3% improvement in 15-km load-bearing march times and a 17.8% reduction in lower-extremity injury rates compared to generic calisthenics cohorts (p < 0.01). Biomechanical data demonstrates that track and field fundamentals optimize neuromuscular firing rates for rapid repositioning under 25-35 kg combat loadouts. Findings confirm athletics is an absolute physiological prerequisite for high-intensity combat survival, providing a scientifically validated framework to overhaul infantry conditioning toward functional aerobic capacity and explosive anaerobic power.
