Abstract

This article presents a comparative analysis of the verbs used in Mahmud Kashgari’s “Devoni  lug‘otit turk” and the verbs of the modern Uzbek language. The study examines the grammatical structure of ancient Turkic verbs, their semantic features, and the expression of tense, mood, voice, person, and number categories. Particular attention is paid to verb formation means, their functional possibilities, and the similarities and differences between these forms and the verbs of the modern Uzbek language. The article substantiates the historical and linguistic relationship between the ancient Turkic language and the modern Uzbek language. The results of the study are of significant scientific importance for the history of Turkic languages, historical grammar, and comparative linguistics.
