Abstract
This article examines smell-related metaphors and phraseological units in English and Uzbek from semantic and linguacultural perspectives. Smell is considered one of the fundamental human sensory perceptions and functions in language not only as a physiological sensation but also as a means of expressing intuition, suspicion, danger perception, moral evaluation, and hidden meanings. The study comparatively analyzes metaphorical and phraseological expressions connected with smell in both languages and reveals common and distinctive features in the cultural worldview and national mentality of English and Uzbek speakers. Furthermore, the cognitive and linguacultural characteristics of the smell concept are scientifically discussed.
