Abstract
This article provides a comparative analysis of the degree category, which is the most important morphological and semantic feature of the adjective category in English and Uzbek. The study covers the means of expression of adjective degrees, the correlation of morphological and analytical methods, and the specificity of intensity levels in both languages. The degree of correspondence of synthetic (affixal) and analytical (more/most) models in English with morphological (-roq) and lexical (eng, juda) means in Uzbek is studied. Also, the English equivalents of reduplication (qip-qizil) and reduction forms in adjectives, which are characteristic of the Uzbek language, are analyzed. The results of the study serve for typological linguistics and translation theory.
