Abstract
This thesis examines effective teaching approaches to academic reading in English language education. The work focuses on how learner-centered and strategy-based approaches improve students’ reading comprehension, analytical thinking, vocabulary development, and academic performance. Particular attention is given to communicative reading instruction, collaborative learning, critical reading activities, and interactive classroom practices. The findings suggest that appropriate teaching approaches help learners become more active, confident, and independent readers while enhancing their ability to interpret and evaluate academic texts critically.
