Abstract

The article examines the theory of water distribution in a center-pivot (circular) sprinkler irrigation machine. A methodology for dividing the irrigated area into concentric sections is presented, taking into account the kinematic and hydraulic characteristics of the machine operation. Based on geometric analysis, the areas of the sections, the required water volumes, and the corresponding water flow rates for each section under a given irrigation norm are determined. It is shown that as the radius increases, the section area grows according to a quadratic law; therefore, the required water flow rate and instantaneous irrigation intensity must increase proportionally to the radius. The obtained theoretical relationships make it possible to justify the selection of structural and operational parameters of the sprinkler machine and can be used in the design and optimization of center-pivot irrigation systems.
